Different schools were able to work together collaboratively to create ideas for the ways that fundraising in each school could take place.Īs a school community, we plan on fundraising for Project Compassion through pancake purchases on upcoming Shrove Tuesday as well as a mufti day and other activities to help fundraise for Project Compassion. Students had the opportunity to talk to and ask questions to the CARITAS staff members about the program. The students learnt about the programs run by Project Compassion and the impact that it is having internationally as well as how CSPD schools can assist in fundraising for CARITAS over the Lenten season. Today a small group of year 10 and 11 students from the Mary Mackillop Service Awards Program attended the Project Compassion Launch run by CARITAS Australia at St Finbar’s Primary School, Glenbrook. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (today, 27 February) and ends on Good Friday (Friday 29 March). This time of sacrifice and repentance prepares the heart to receive the reconciliation that Christ offers. The season of Lent prepares us for Christ's death and resurrection at Easter. The students attended a liturgy this morning to celebrate Ash Wednesday and if they chose to, they too received ashes. During Mass on this day, priests will add crosses made of ashes to foreheads reminding us. On Ash Wednesday, you may see neighbours walking around with ash crosses on their foreheads. Whatever it is, Lent is the perfect time to commit to it. It might be serving at a local shelter or being more generous in our giving. For some, it could mean prayer and meditation, for others, it could look like fasting food or giving up social media. Enquiries and enrolment applications for all grades are welcome any time of the year, although the main enrolment period is between March and May in the year before your child will start at our school.Īsh Wednesday is the beginning of Lent - the perfect opportunity for us all to recommit to many of the things we know we need to do. We warmly welcome new families to join our school community. I am excited to lead our dynamic learning community and look forward to working with you to provide the best education for your child.
